Bear Paw Secures $2.1 Million in Brownfields Funding

4 Montana organizations to share $10 million for environmental cleanup

Snowy Mountain Development Corporation in Lewistown will receive $3.9 million, Great Falls Development Authority in Great Falls will receive $2.65 million, Bear Paw Development in Havre will receive $2.15 million, and Headwaters Resource Conservation and Development Council in Butte will receive $1 million.

During last year we coordinated more than $13.1 million in funding for business start-ups and expansions and community enhancements, including local government infrastructure. We also leveraged $125 from outside sources for every $1 we received from our local government member entities and helped the private sector to create or retain 61 jobs in our rural area of Montana.

USA Today has ranked Havre, Montana’s “Beneath the Streets (Historical Underground Tour)” #2 among underground attractions across the nation.

When fire destroyed most of Havre in 1904, many business owners moved underground to carry on their business until the town could be rebuilt.

New program at MSU Northern is partnering business students with Havre business leaders

Four Business leaders from businesses in Havre are involved in the program: State Farm Insurance, Independence Bank, Bear Paw Development Corporation, and Duchscher Kapperud Insurance.
