Byrnes discusses the state’s efforts to craft a new venture capital bill to bolster funding for high-potential, job-creating companies in Wisconsin.

The tool will educate users on Greater Des Moines’ business climate, rankings, key industries, economic development news, and companies that choose to do business in the region.

From Des Moines to Omaha to Kansas City — a region known more for its barns than its bandwidth — a start-up tech scene is burgeoning.

Members of the Wisconsin Technology Council have offered a roadmap for tech development in "Vision 2020: A Model Wisconsin Economy." The "white papers" in this section build upon that vision.

Tony Hsieh said the fund is just one more way "to accelerate the tech startup ecosystem in downtown."

The project has the goal of increasing transparency and connecting entrepreneurs to tools within the network.

"The overall objective would be to have a city that is capable of housing any company has the most skilled workforce has plans and strategies for making sure all communities are connected so we have individuals who are workforce ready," said Raleigh CIO Gail Roper.
