Montana Education Excellence

The group is planning to build a school at 13,000 ft. elevation in the Himalayas in one of the most remote locations on earth.

The turbine is part of the Montana Wind for Schools program, which will install four similar turbines at schools in Cascade, Fairfield, Livingston and Stanford in the coming weeks. Students will use the turbines in lessons about alternative energy.

Take a hands-on approach to what you want — or think you want — to do. If you want to be an engineer, go shadow an engineer for a few days. If you want to be an accountant, go get a summer job at an accounting firm, even if it is only delivering the mail. Find out first hand what the careers entail. Ask a lot of questions! If you find something you love, be passionate about it and find a way to get involved and do it. Don’t let people/things stand in the way of your dreams, passion can overcome any shortcoming.

The high-level research from student scientists in Great Falls and Sunburst involving cutthroat trout and popcorn has earned them recognition at a national level — and they aren’t even in high school yet.

The purpose of this effort is to gather information about the strengths of rural schools, districts, and communities, and about the challenges they face.

Tony was a man of many talents, but at his core, he was a true scientist. His name will now be affiliated with a lab that will be home to companies that are commercializing University of Montana research.

In an effort to produce more accountability in higher education, The University of Montana helped develop and implement a new national Web site that allows students and their families to easily compare institutions of higher learning.

Articulation is a cooperative effort between Montana’s high schools, linking them with certificate, diploma and associate degree programs.

"The greatest advantage for students in these programs is that they benefit directly from the unique educational resources available at each of the partner institutions."

There are currently 35 to 40 Tajik students enrolled at UM. The number has increased rapidly and “we think the number will (continue to) increase.”
