In this free session, you’ll learn how you can qualify for hundreds of thousands of dollars in R&D funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) that does not have to be matched or repaid. In just one lunch hour, you’ll get up to speed on the SBIR/STTR programs, qualification requirements and the application process. We’ll touch on ways that academic researchers can participate in these small business programs. You’ll also hear about free proposal development and submission assistance that may be available to you. Of course, we’ll leave plenty of time to answer your specific questions as well.

NSF is currently soliciting SBIR/STTR proposals in the following nine topics areas:

1) Educational Technologies and Applications

2) Information Technologies

3) Internet of Things

4) Semiconductors and Photonic Devices and Materials

5) Electronic Hardware, Robotics and Wireless Technologies

6) Advanced Manufacturing and Nanotechnology

7) Advanced Materials and Instrumentation

8) Chemical and Environmental Technologies
Biological Technologies

9) Smart Health and Biomedical Technologies

Please note that NSF accepts SBIR/STTR proposals in any area of technology that shows high commercial potential, not just those listed above.

Other upcoming brown bag sessions focused on winning federal SBIR/STTR funding include:

– National Science Foundation on Tuesday, April 21, 2015

– Department of Defense on Wednesday, May 13, 2015

All sessions will be held in room 127 of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Building on the MSU campus from noon to 1 p.m.

These events are made possible through a partnership between the MSU Office of Research and Economic Development, the MSU TechLink Center and the Montana Technology Innovation Partnership.
