Wheat/plastics composite company breaks ground in Wyoming

Thursday was the official groundbreaking ceremony for Heartland BioComposites, LLC, a new wood substitute manufacturer.

The company will combine wheat straw and recycled plastic to make a unique composite product in the Torrington facility.
Company president and founder Heath Van Eaton, along with board managers, investors and bankers participated in the press conference and photo opportunity at the site across U.S. Highway 26 from the Holiday Inn Express east of Torrington.

Heartland obtained more than $2 million in grants through the Wyoming Business Council, and $500,000 from Goshen County Economic Development Corporation, as well as up to $5,150,000 in loans and $2.5 million in private investment, for a total of more than $10 million to start the business.
