In the age of information, it doesn’t take long to figure out that filtering the right data for the right audience is imperative. If you have the time to scan hundreds of web pages you can probably find what your looking for. But who has the time for search engines and dead-end leads? BizMt is Montana’s new business portal. Through our website, individuals will be able to find relevant information about the Montana economy as well as get to the information they need to help start, expand and locate their business in the state.

For the past year the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity has been building an economic development infrastructure in Montana. Beginning with the Framework for Economic Development http://state.mt.us/gov2/css/econdev/default.asp through our most recent publication, the Roadmap to a New Economy http://bizmt.com/mtadvantage/Strategy.asp , and soon to be released Cluster Study, we have targeted the Montana economic development discussion on high-leverage strategies. The launch and maintenance of this website is a key short-term deliverable in the implementation of our long-term plan.

Included in the website are some interactive tools for local economic developers and the businesses community of the state. Our Searchable Properties database http://app.discoveringmontana.com/properties/ will enable local economic developers to promote their available commercial properties to expanding and relocating businesses. Using only a connection to the internet, a local economic developer in Montana will be able to create economic opportunity by advertising local commercial properties to businesses around the nation and world.

But what about businesses that are already here? I’m extremely excited about the potential for Business to Business Montana , http://bizmt.com/searchdb/coming.asp a community web portal that was developed by my office, and is giving every business in the State of Montana a web presence and exposure to more potential customers. Business to Business Montana will remove barriers and help Montana businesses showcase their products and services to local customers as well as consumers world wide.
