A local entrepreneurial organization in Boise hopes to link out-of-work technology talent with employers through a new job-posting Web site.

Kickstand, a non-profit group that supports local emerging technology firms, plans to launch the Web site today. The Kickstand Exchange site will allow those seeking work to post their resumes and employers to post openings. The site will be restricted to technology-related openings, said Kickstand President Mary Givens.

“This will be targeted to tech companies and the type of talent they may be interested in, whether that be in management or financial or marketing or engineers,” said Givens. “It will be specific to this area and the tech industry.”

There will be no cost to post a resume or job on the site, but the user is required to register on Kickstand´s home page at http://www.kickstand.org before being allowed to enter the link to Kickstand Exchange. This will serve to monitor who is using the site and help Kickstand add services by seeing what type of interest the site draws.

Givens said the site was started because of the number of unemployed technology workers and also because monthly Kickstand meetings stir discussions about opportunities available in the area.

“This type of thing was functioning word-of-mouth and we thought it was a good idea to give this a more public venue,” Givens said.

“Our goal is to help people find jobs where they live. We hope emerging companies here will use our Web site to gain talent.”

To join Kickstand, go online to http://www.Kickstand.org and click on “About Kickstand.” A link will allow you to register free for membership.

Kickstand will feature its monthly program at 5:30 p.m. tonight at the Rose Room, 718 W. Idaho St. in Boise.

Jonathan Weech, vice president of sales and business development at Design Genetix, will talk about what emerging companies must consider when they want to turn an idea into a marketable product.

Registration for attendance is preferred through the Kickstand Web site. There is no cost to attend.
