WebCast on the Internet

The not-for-profit International City/County Management Association (ICMA) invites you to participate in its Web cast-nationally broadcast Internet program-Wind Energy: Opportunities for Local Governments, on March 24, 2004 at 2pm EST.

Please feel free to distribute this information to your constituents who might be interested, or to refer us to any membership organizations, associations, or companies potentially interested in this program (Jennifer Folta: ).

The following information was included in a recent press release to ICMA members:

In this web cast, wind energy experts from the US Department of Energy, NREL, local government, and industry will share information on:

o Why should local governments consider wind energy programs in their communities-i.e., what are the benefits and challenges to using wind energy?

o What role can local governments play?

o How are other local governments using wind energy?

This program offers you the chance to hear how interested local governments are in wind energy, what they want, and what they need. This valuable insight can help you plan marketing to the local government sector-one of the largest electricity purchasing market segments and distribution market segments in the country. We have marketed this program to 12,000 local governments across the country.

ICMA is the 86-year-old association of professional city and county managers and other top appointed officials dedicated to promoting excellence in local government. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., ICMA represents nearly 8,000 members and more than 5,000 local jurisdictions throughout the world. ICMA provides technical and management assistance, training, online services, and publications to appointed local government managers and administrators in cities, counties, and regional entities. Its resources and services reach is in contact with more than 4550,000 local, county, and state government professionals, academics, and others interested in local government via its monthly mailings.
