Washington State Economic summit coming to Spokane

Washington Gov. Gary Locke will hold the first
statewide economic development summit in Spokane
Sept. 12 and 13.

The Spokesman-Review

Sharon Wallace, spokeswoman for the Department of
Community, Trade and Economic Development, said
participants will assess the causes of the recent
economic downturn and what steps can be taken to
move the state forward.

As many as 400 public and private officials are
expected to attend the event, which will be
headquartered at the Ridpath, although Wallace said
some events may be held at the Davenport Hotel.

Officials are still working out the format for the
summit, she said. Topics will include trade, work force
education, energy and business competitiveness.
