Venture Clubs bring hope to entrepreneurs

In this time of economic uncertainty we need not concentrate on the negative. The funding world needs to put on the blinders and keep their noses to the grindstone. To do this Venture Clubs across the country are keeping the deal flow streaming. Giving those in the industry a place to air their concerns and spread their enthusiasm.

These monthly meetings give the community a chance to network, and get business done. It also gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to shake hands with those in the know, and often begin open courtships of potential investors.

Although the dollar amount of funding going on is much lower than what we became accustomed to, in many areas the actual number of deals has remained the same. The Club meetings give everyone attending the feeling of normalcy. They aim to provide support activities and advice to the entrepreneurial community to facilitate business growth in their communities.

Many of the meetings I have attended in the last year seemed very upbeat, and the members were eager to move forward. They feel that they are an integral part of the economic development for their region, and that in order to maintain growth they must continue to evolve.

For investors, meetings are convenient and on-going ways of maintaining contact with entrepreneurs in search of funding. They also have the opportunity to interact with other investors who are committed to helping their community succeed.

Entrepreneurs who attend gain invaluable contacts with sources of capital and business expertise. According to the Indiana Venture Club, member entrepreneurs have been nearly seven times more successful in obtaining funds than non-member entrepreneurs who have gone into the investment community on their own.

Whether looking for funding or non-cash equities, such as space, manufacturing, capabilities, equipment, customers, and support services – members have the advantage of meeting investors and professionals in their area who have the resources and experience they need. Entrepreneurs also have the valuable opportunity to meet with their peers and learn from the experiences of other entrepreneurs.

More than anything, the art of investment thrives on contacts, and that is what venture clubs promote. If you are at all interested in either beginning a business, or investing into new business creation in your area you need to find your local venture club.

You may not find what you are looking for in the first meeting, but sooner or later you will find that partnership that will bring you to where you want to go.
