Sustainable Development Supported- Weyerhaeuser Family Foundation: Sustainable Forests and Communities Initiative Grants Available

The Sustainable Forests and Communities Initiative seeks to promote forest conservation and environmentally sustainable economic development at the local level. Eligible applicants must be working within the three program components of ecology, economy, and community.

Funded projects must focus on these regions: northern California, Idaho, Minnesota, western Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Locally-based organizations within the targeted geographic areas are eligible to apply. Regional and national organizations working to promote the integration of ecology, economy, and community, and who are working with local partners operating within the targeted geographic area, are also eligible to apply.

The Initiative is directed toward new or recently started projects. The deadline for pre-applications is May 1, 2003. For further information, go to the website listed below.
