“Stem Cell Research: Daring To Dream” Dr. Irving Weissman, 9/18, Hamilton, MT

The Bitterroot Valley can now add another top-notch celebrity to Montana’s list of famous residents. Rather than making headlines by rebelling against today’s government, acting in major films, winning Olympic skiing gold medals or devising bombs in small cabins – this guy is fighting against the body’s most detrimental diseases through stem cell research.

Recognized as one of today’s most prominent medical scientists, Great Falls native and Hamilton homeowner, Dr. Irving Weissman is the Director of the Stanford Cancer Center and the Stem Cell Institute at Stanford University. Weissman will be in Hamilton Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center in Hamilton High School, presenting his lecture, “Stem Cell Research: Daring to Dream.”

Weissman is considered one of the world’s foremost experts in the fields of immunology, developmental biology and stem cells. His work circles the globe while his research pioneers the modern science of blood-forming stem cells.
