RuralX Economic Development And Community Development Event – 6/27-28 – Mitchell, South Dakota

RuralX will connect small towns with big ideas during two-day event in Mitchell

This June, Dakota Resources and Dakota Wesleyan University are partnering to bring ruralX to Mitchell for a two-day economic development and community development event. RuralX is designed to bring rural champions together from across the region together to discover and share new ideas, tools and processes for rural development.

While this is the third year of ruralX will be held in South Dakota, it is the first year the event will be located at DWU.

"We are excited to bring ruralX to our campus and to partner with Dakota Resources," says Fredel Thomas, Dean of Admissions and Marketing at DWU. "We are a rural university, with unique offerings like our Rural Nursing Initiative and our Rural Pastor Project. We have a passion for rural that is echoed in the mission and values of Dakota Resources. It feels like a natural collaboration."

The team at Dakota Resources says the event is open to anyone with a desire to make an impact on our rural communities. They can expect a dynamic experience that includes national keynote speakers, breakout sessions, networking, creative solutions and youth involvement. Past attendees have gone back to their communities energized and motivated to launch new initiatives, pop-up businesses, city beautification projects, fundraisers, citywide events, economic development groups and more.

"The ripple effect from ruralX keeps coming back to us in success stories across the region. If you are a person who cares about your rural community and you want to connect to smart, motivated people who are doing great things in rural places, then you belong at ruralX," says Joe Bartmann, President of Dakota Resources. "We feel our partnership with DWU and their added rural expertise will make this our best year yet."

RuralX will be held June 27 and 28 in Mitchell on the campus of DWU. To find more information about speakers, agenda and registration, visit http://www.dakotaresources.org/ruralx or contact Dakota Resources at [email protected].
