A San Francisco expert in small-scale rail transit will come to town in June to talk about the possibilities for light rail in the Missoula area.

Lewis Ames has operated and developed light rail transportation in the San Francisco Bay Area and consulted in other cities. He’s being brought to Missoula by the board that oversees the Mountain Line bus system and makes transportation policy in the city, the Missoula Urban Transportation District Board.

Ames will be available at a reduced rate June 15 and 16 in Missoula as he travels between two other engagements, MUTD board member Andy Sponseller told city and county officials Thursday, which gives Missoula a good chance to talk about light rail without a big investment in a consultant.
