Over 200 students from Montana’s High Schools showing how much they know about the world beyond our borders – Montana World Affairs Council Academic WorldQuest, 2/23, Missoula, Montana

Academic WorldQuest (AWQ) is a team game challenging competitors’ knowledge of international issues in areas like geography, history, current events, culture and more. As the Montana World Affairs Council’s http://www.montanaworldaffairs.org largest education initiative, AWQ began in 2005 with three teams and has grown to include almost 60 high school teams from around the state.

AWQ is an exciting ‘global gauntlet’ challenge engaging students in international affairs as teams compete for the opportunity to represent Montana at the national competition in Washington D.C., a trip made possible with the generous support of the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation http://www.dpwfoundation.org/ .

Teams of four high school students from any grade level put their heads together to answer 10 rounds / 10 multiple choice questions per round, on critical global issues.

This year, teams will travel to Missoula from all corners of the
state, Billings, Noxon, Wolf Point, Great Falls, Gardner, Bozeman, Hot
Springs, Stanford, Philipsburg, and Columbia Falls to participate in
the global event.

The competition is held on the in the Ballroom on the 3rd floor of
the University Center at the University of Montana. It begins at
4:30pm with welcome remarks from Governor Steve Bullock, Ambassador
Mark Johnson, and Provost Perry Brown. Mayor John Engen will be the MC
for the evening. The public is welcome to attend and try their hand at
the trivia questions.
