Montana’s First Lady Encourages Teachers to Enter Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest Win for a $100,000 technology grant

First Lady Nancy Schweitzer encourages Montana teachers to apply for the national Solve for Tomorrow contest sponsored by Samsung and have a chance to win up to $100,000 in technology grants for their school. Middle and high school science and mathematics instructors are invited to fill out a short application online at: https://pages.samsung.com/us/sft/home.htm
Twenty-five classrooms will then be selected and equipped with a camcorder, laptop, and video editing software to create videos addressing the challenge, "Show how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) can help the environment in your community." Of the 25 schools submitting videos, the top 12 will win a technology grant ranging from $70,000-$100,000.
"Montana teachers and students are consistently successful in competitions against their peers across the country," said First Lady Nancy Schweitzer. "This is a wonderful opportunity to receive free technology equipment that gets students excited about studying math and science."
The deadline to apply is October 31, 2011.
Samsung’s goal is to increase the pursuit of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education, demonstrate how these subjects can positively impact our environment, and improve the technology gap in classrooms.
The Governor and First Lady’s Math and Science Initiative (http://www.mathscience.mt.gov/) invites Montana’s youth to discover the many opportunities to learn about science and math in K-12 schools and higher education, find out about career opportunities and explore Montana’s splendid surroundings.
