Montana economy and budget may be the "envy of the nation"

On Monday, Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer will present his proposed state budget in advance of next year’s 2011 legislature. It’s a budget his economic development guru says may be the envy of the nation.

"We’re one of only two states that’s been operating in the black. As a result of that, the governor is going to be able to present a budget that, as I tell people, is not just going to be balanced, but it’s not going to raise taxes. It’s going to retain essential core services and still have a good and even balance. And there are very few states in the nation that can say that," said Evan Barrett, Montana Chief Business Officer.
