Last week the Missoula Robotics Team (MRT) participated in the  regional FIRST competition in Salt Lake City.
The Missoula high school team has members from Sientenial, Hellgate and Big Sky.  Their robot competed against 53 other teams during the FIRST robotics competition.   The coach Theresa McGeary did an amazing job coordinating and juggling 25+ team members,  4 mentors, and several parents over the 3 day event.  At the end of the tournament,  team 3216 MRT walked away with the team spirit award and finishing as a member of the 8th place ranking alliance.
It was an exciting event that was accented with a surprising level of inspiration, cooperation and professionalism that the teams demonstrated plus a ton of robot rivalry and fast paced action.   School districts that support events are clearly demonstrating their commitment to enhancing and promoting STEM education.  Gratitude is due to the Missoula School District,   local business sponsors, and the teachers and local engineering mentors that make this program a success.
Please contact Theresa McGeary, the MRT coach, for a chance to meet the team’s award winning team and the incredible robot they built.
Team 3216 is the only high school FIRST robotics team in Montana.   They would love to help more teams get started around the state.
