Missoula Community Theatre Auditions The Marvelous Wonderettes , 11/18, Missoula

The Missoula Community Theatre will hold auditions for performers on Sunday, November 18, for The Marvelous Wonderettes. Based on the successful Off-Broadway smash musical, created by Roger Bean, The Marvelous Wonderettes takes audiences to the 1958 Springfield High School prom, where they meet the Wonderettes, four girls (Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy and Suzy) with dreams and aspirations as big as their crinoline skirts. As we learn about their lives and loves, we are treated to the girls performing memorable ’50s and ’60s songs and plenty of familiar classic hits. The Marvelous Wonderettes is a must-take musical trip down memory lane. "It’s a fun, silly, feel-good show," says director Joe Martinez.

Auditions

The Missoula Community Theatre seeks four actresses with strong vocal abilities. These four characters must be able to act and appear as if they were between the ages of 18 and 28. Participants must be able to sing, act, and, most importantly, hold a four-part harmony. "These auditions are mostly about the sound and voice," says director Joe Martinez. "We’ve got wigs and costumes to make the time period come to life."

Auditions will be held at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts, 200 North Adams Street, in Missoula, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. For those unable to attend on this date, an alternate audition time may be arranged. Performances: January 17-20, 23-27, 2013. Interested parties are invited to peruse the script, available at the reception desk, beforehand. Call (406) 728-1911 for more information.
