Missoula Children’s Theatre Community Theatre still dreaming of ‘White Christmas’

Michael McGill has been dreaming of a White Christmas longer than most of us this year. And he’ll get his wish early and often starting this very weekend, when MCT Community Theatre http://www.mctinc.org/ opens its two-week run of "Irving Berlin’s White Christmas," a stage musical based on the classic film of the same name, which in turn is based on the classic Irving Berlin song of the same name.

You know the tune. We all do. No holiday theme is more widely known and beloved than "White Christmas," which bears the distinction as the best-selling single of all time and the only song to ever top the popular charts on three separate occasions (in 1942, 1945, and 1946).

Yet despite the song’s ubiquity and the seemingly nightly reruns of the 1954 film on classic movie channels, our collective longing for a White Christmas has hardly abated: As of last weekend, all tickets to MCT’s planned run of eight performances had already sold out.
