Medinex Systems plans move to Florida

Medinex Systems, the Coeur d’Alene medical software and
services company, has announced plans to move to
Celebration, Fla.

The company recently opened a sales office in Celebration
in central Florida. Company officials have not issued a
formal statement explaining the relocation.

A Medinex employee in a recent interview said it’s
uncertain whether the company will continue running an
office in North Idaho.

The company has fewer than 16 employees.

Medinex sells a variety of products and services, including
a Web service for physicians, a Web-based e-commerce
site and MxMail, a secure medical messaging software
system.

For the first three months of 2002, Medinex’s net loss was
$508,711, compared with a loss of $1.6 million for the
same period in 2001.

Chief executive Anthony Paquin is also now listed as the
company’s chief financial officer. He’s filling the vacancy
of former CFO David Paquin.

Colin Christie is chief operating officer. Kelly McCarthy
Paquin is executive vice president.

The move to Florida reflects the company’s focus on
selling services to the medical industry. A company
spokesman said in a statement that Florida’s large number
of medical practitioners makes the move attractive.

Formed originally as Netivation, the company at one time
grew to more than 150 workers, most based in Post Falls.
The company moved last year to its Coeur d’Alene office
on Ironwood Way.

It set out to become a Web-based political information
clearinghouse and consulting service. But the company
never made a profit.

With the dot-com implosion, the company laid off most of
its workers, changed its name to Medinex and focused on
medical products.
