Made in Montana gets a Web site

The Made in Montana/Grown in Montana line is going on the Web.
The Montana Department of Commerce says that 20 percent of the mostly 3,100
registered products have signed up for a free online products directory.
Next year, companies will be able to log into the site and update their company and
product listings.
The site is: http://www.madeinmontanausa.com

Bookish about libraries

The ballot measure to approve bonds to build a new library in Billings has won endorsement from the Big
Sky Economic Development Authority Board.
The proposal is also endorsed by the Downtown
Billings Partnership. Proponents say it would
authorize $12 million to build a new downtown library
for about the same cost as renovating the current one
– a former warehouse.
Big Sky EDA board chairman Mike Schaer said
the current library was set up when Billings had
69,000 residents and hasn’t kept pace as Billings and
its suburbs have doubled in population. He said chief
executives look for cultural amenities when rating
cities as places to relocate their business. A library is
an important part of the equation.
"If you’re trying to attract highly paid people here,
they have families and they need the resource a library
offers," Schaer said. "We think a good library is
essential to attract first-rate business to Billings."
Meanwhile speaking of bookworms, Schaer said
he gave 200,000 books away in the stash of textbooks
he found in a warehouse that he rented near the
railroad along Montana Avenue at North 26th Street
during three weeks last summer.
Now that the warehouse is fairly vacant, the
Jaycees are using it for their Halloween haunted house this year.

Chuckle of the day

Instead of Lutheran Brotherhood financial services, the Yellow Page directory Qwest Dex, dropped the "L."
There was a listing in the "L’s," but another listing could be found at the back of the book if you knew to look
for "Utheran Brotherhood."
Uffdah.
