Economic development and job creation, Margo Gray-Proctor firmly believes, are the keys to curing social ills on Indian reservations.
But that requires commitment, hard work, solid business plans, risk-takers and, as much as anything else, loyalty among Indian business people and from tribal governments to make it work, she told participants at Wednesday’s Indian Business Development Expo sponsored by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.
Gray-Proctor, secretary-treasurer of the Horizon Cos. in Tulsa, Okla., and chairwoman of the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development, was the keynote speaker.
