On May 6th iConnect Montana will be hosting its grand opening of our new downtown Bozeman collocation hotel (AKA fiber hotel or data center) in at 112 North Black Street. Hors d’oeuvres will be served at 2 pm to 7 pm and tours will be conducted as requested. Come down and see our new facility and find out what we can do for your network backbone.

Customers are quickly making reservations for space in iConnect Montana’s newest Data Center/Fiber Hotel located in downtown Bozeman.

“We’re extremely pleased with the interest in our Bozeman facility,” said Mike Sheard, Director of Operations for iConnect Montana. “It looks like room will be going fast. Bozeman is an ideal location for our high-tech fiber hotel. The data center will be well connected, as three major Montana fiber optical carriers are scheduled to have a presence. We anticipate opening in just a matter of weeks.”

iConnect Montana will continue working with city and county officials, university personnel, economic development leaders, business leaders and individuals focused on technology issues and technology’s role in economic development, helping them understand the benefits of having a fiber hotel located in their community.

What exactly is a fiber hotel? iConnect Montana’s fiber hotels provide "conditioned" space suitable for housing telecom and information technology equipment such as switches, routers, servers, data storage/retrieval devices, etc. It gives tenants choices in telecom and data providers and, in turn, price alternatives. Companies locating equipment in an iConnect facility can cost-effectively access multiple telecommunications and Internet service providers simply by connecting equipment from rack to rack or cage to cage in a professionally engineered, controlled, competitively-neutral environment. Savings in telecommunications costs can be significant.

Attributes of the Bozeman facility will include:

* Backup battery plant, backed up by a 125 kw generator – to insulate tenants from power outages

* Dual HVAC systems – to keep air temperature at appropriate levels

* Card key access system – to ensure a high level of security while maintaining around-the-clock accessibility for tenants

* Conduits to the rooftop for wireless applications

* Access to multiple fiber networks.

Companies, taking advantage of iConnect Montana’s enterprise level environment, are making reservations to place equipment and access each other’s networks and services, without incurring large upfront investments and operational expenses. In turn, they can focus human and capital resources on their core competencies such as designing and hosting web sites, providing telecommunications services, storing back-up data, etc. CutThroat Communications, Bresnan Communications, Vision Net, Corban Communications, and Qwest are a few of the companies that have recognized the value of iConnect Montana facilities as significant hubs for telecommunications and Internet related activity.

iConnect Montana, an affiliate of Montana Independent Telecommunications Systems (MITS), is owned and operated by Montana’s rural telephone companies: Nemont, Project, Valley, Triangle, Central Montana, and Northern. Additional information is found at http://www.iconnectmontana.com.
