About the Workshop

“Building Effective Government and Business Relations With American Indian Tribes™” is an interactive one-day professional development workshop designed for federal, state, and local government officials and business leaders who have a need to, or are required to, develop working relationships with Indian tribes and organizations. The process of developing effective working relationships with Indian tribes and organizations requires knowledge and understanding of: Indian culture, organizational protocols, trust and relationship building principles, communication, and developing a collaborative environment. The morning session on June 10 is the first of several sessions in furtherance of the guiding principles and training requirements set out in Rep. Jonathan Windy Boys’ HB 608 passed by the Montana legislature in 2003.

The Benefits

Participants who attend “Building Effective Government and Business Relations With Indian Tribes™” leave with a powerful understanding of the principles used to build working relationships with American Indian Tribes. “Building Effective Government and Business Relations With Indian Tribes™” assists government and business leaders in accelerating trust and relationship building efforts through the use of proven principles, in many cases, articulated by tribal leaders themselves.

The Presentation

The workshop uses Microsoft PowerPoint® presentations to instruct numerous principles on Indian culture, protocol, government, communication, and building trust and relationships. Video clips of Indian practitioners and tribal leaders are imbedded into the presentation to emphasize and validate principles. This workshop is interactive and the curriculum contains opportunities for participants to dialogue and discuss practices and principles presented.
