Job Description

Missoula Food Bank & Community Center’s mission is to lead the movement to end hunger in through advocacy, volunteerism, and healthy food for all.  We nourish community. MFB&CC is an anti-racist, ally organization with a 37 year history of addressing food insecurity in Missoula County.  In 2019, our emergency food programs helped 1 in 5 people countywide.  MFB&CC acknowledges the impacts of systemic racism and economic inequity in food systems and pursues our mission to end hunger through direct nutrition programs and through advocacy efforts that impact the upstream, causal issues of food insecurity. One of the base values of our organization is that those most impacted by the issues of hunger and poverty be a leading voice in solutions.

This is a full time (40 hr/wk), exempt position reporting to the organization’s Director of Development & Advocacy.  The Director of Community Organizing and Equity stewards MFB&CC’s broad based organizing efforts, working alongside peer community institutions and among everyday people, particularly historically marginalized groups, to address the systemic issues that result in food insecurity in our neighborhoods.  This director-level position, with support from the Directors Team, leads MFB&CC’s institutional anti-racism and ally work, with both internal and external objectives. Racially and gender diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.

The right fit for this role is energized by working with diverse people and has a sense of injustice toward the reasons people are experiencing food insecurity and other inequities. The right fit for this role is able and willing to lead conversations about equity and systemic racism in a community that is majority white.
