Job Description

The Regional Community and Economic Development Director is responsible for managing the organization’s economic and community development activities as described in contracts and funding agreements related to the State of Montana’s Certified Regional Development (CRDC) program and the U.S. Economic Development’s Economic Development District (EDA) program. The Department is responsible for overseeing and updating the region’s Community Economic Development Strategy and activities related to community and infrastructure development which may include project development, grant writing, project management and reporting to applicable state and federal funding agencies.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Executive Director

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, with beginning wage expected to be $48,000 – $58,000 DOE.  Benefits package includes;

  • 100% employer-paid health insurance for employee; optional additions for family, dental and vision (employee paid) effective 1st day of month following date of hire.
  • Employer contribution to retirement savings program, life insurance, sick leave, paid holidays and vacation upon completion of 6 month probation.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, community planning, public administration, finance or related field is required.
  • 5 – 7 years of related business experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills are necessary including public speaking and group facilitation.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a highly competitive and demanding environment
  • Strong attention to detail and self-motivated to produce accurate, timely and complete work product
  • Strong writing skills; excellent research and analytical skills
  • Project management skills, initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Demonstrated introductory knowledge of full range of Business Development skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Commitment to LCCDC mission of creating opportunity for all members of our region
  • Must have and maintain a valid Montana driver’s license.

 

ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with grant accounting; project/program development; grant writing
  • Prior work experience in non-profit organization
  • Prior work experience working with government agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare complex proposals in compliance with guidelines of State and Federal funding agencies.

 

ABILITIES AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sits at a desk, at meetings, and in vehicles for long periods of time. Uses hands and fingers to handle the telephone, computer, office equipment, and write.
  • Ability to utilize webinar and phone conferencing programs. Vision abilities require the skill to review technical and legal documents, reports, telephone numbers, analytical and statistical reports.
  • This position will require working occasional flexible hours to attend evening or weekend meetings. Some out of town travel is required.
