DESCRIPTION:The University of Montana is now accepting applications for our next Regional I-Corps Cohort\, running September 1 through September 30\, 2026. \nIf you are a researcher\, faculty member\, student\, entrepreneur\, startup founder\, or innovator trying to understand whether your idea has real market potential\, this program is designed to help you figure that out. \nOver five weeks\, participants use a proven customer discovery process to test assumptions\, better understand customer needs\, refine their value proposition\, and explore possible commercialization pathways. The experience can also strengthen future SBIR/STTR and other grant proposals by providing real-world market validation and evidence of stakeholder engagement. \nIf you are working on a technology\, research discovery\, or startup idea\, we would love to connect with you. And if someone in your network should see this\, please share it with them. \n\nThe Regional I-Corps training at University of Montana spans five weeks\, offering a blended approach to assess the market potential of your technology. This program welcomes both researchers and entrepreneurs\, the curriculum explores the commercial potential of deep technology solutions across any industry sector. It prepares researchers to extend their focus beyond the lab and consider the economic and societal impact of their work. \nParticipants in an I-Corps team should allocate roughly 8-10 hours weekly throughout the duration of the five-week program. DESCRIPTION:Montana State University invites community members to share feedback on a list of proposed projects to include in the university’s new strategic plan. Feedback can be shared at a community event in Bozeman in September or through an online survey. \nThe community event will be held on Wednesday\, Sept. 9\, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at EngineWorks\, 2425 Technology Blvd.\, in Bozeman. The event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available outside the building. \nIndividuals who are unable to attend the community forum but who would like to provide feedback may do so via an online survey. The survey will launch on Sept. 8 and can be accessed at MSU’s strategic planning website at https://www.montana.edu/strategicplan/. \nThe proposed projects reflect the ideas and themes the university heard through a series of listening sessions and completed surveys. Those attending the community event will be invited to explore the ideas on display\, show their support for the themes and projects they feel are most important\, and help identify the priorities that should guide MSU’s future. \nOver the spring semester\, a planning team gathered feedback from MSU campus stakeholders\, including students\, faculty and staff. During the summer months\, the team gathered public feedback through a series of listening sessions across the state. The plan will be drafted this fall\, and MSU will present it to the Montana Board of Regents on Nov. 19. \nThe strategic plan will serve as MSU’s roadmap for the next three to five years\, guiding the initiatives that will receive funding\, time and attention in pursuit of the university’s shared values. \nMSU adopted its current plan\, Choosing Promise\, in 2019 and updated it in 2023.
