DESCRIPTION:New UM President to Address Community at State of the University  – Members of the Missoula and campus community and the media are invited to attend University of Montana President Dr. Jeremiah Shinn’s first State of the University Friday\, Aug. 21\, at the Montana Theatre in the Performing Arts and Radio/Television Center building. \nDoors open at 8 a.m. and the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. The address will be followed by a reception. \nSeating for the event is limited. Shinn’s address also will be streamed in the Masquer Theater for overflow and late arrivals. \nMedia are invited to participate in a brief gaggle following the remarks. Members of the media who are in attendance can make their way to the stage following the conclusion of the event. \nA livestream also will be available on YouTube for those unable to attend in person. \nShinn took the University’s helm on July 1 as UM’s 20th president. He joined UM after a successful tenure as the interim president of Boise State University\, where he led efforts to enhance student engagement\, strengthen campus partnerships and expand access to affordable education opportunities for students. \nPrior to serving as Boise State interim president\, Shinn was vice president for student affairs and enrollment management. He also served as vice president for student affairs at Louisiana State University.
