DESCRIPTION:The University of Montana is now accepting applications for our next Regional I-Corps Cohort\, running September 1 through September 30\, 2026. \nIf you are a researcher\, faculty member\, student\, entrepreneur\, startup founder\, or innovator trying to understand whether your idea has real market potential\, this program is designed to help you figure that out. \nOver five weeks\, participants use a proven customer discovery process to test assumptions\, better understand customer needs\, refine their value proposition\, and explore possible commercialization pathways. The experience can also strengthen future SBIR/STTR and other grant proposals by providing real-world market validation and evidence of stakeholder engagement. \nIf you are working on a technology\, research discovery\, or startup idea\, we would love to connect with you. And if someone in your network should see this\, please share it with them. \n\nThe Regional I-Corps training at University of Montana spans five weeks\, offering a blended approach to assess the market potential of your technology. This program welcomes both researchers and entrepreneurs\, the curriculum explores the commercial potential of deep technology solutions across any industry sector. It prepares researchers to extend their focus beyond the lab and consider the economic and societal impact of their work. \nParticipants in an I-Corps team should allocate roughly 8-10 hours weekly throughout the duration of the five-week program. Each team should include\, at the very least\, an entrepreneurial lead (EL) and a technical lead (TL). \nSession Dates:\n\nOrientation: Wed\, September 2 – 4:00–5:30 PM MST\nSession 1: Mon\, September 7 – 4:00–7:00 PM MST\nSession 2: Wed\, September 9 – 4:00–7:00 PM MST\nSession 3 : Wed\, September 16 – 4:00–7:00 PM MSTSession 4: Wed\, September 23 – 4:00–7:00 PM MSTSession 5 : Wed\, September 30 – (Finale)\, 4:00–7:00 PM MST\n\n\n\nApplication Deadline: Sunday\, August 16\n\n\n\nThe University of Montana (UM) Regional I-Corps program is a free innovation bootcamp that teaches researchers and entrepreneurs how to transition technology from the lab to the market. The 3-to-5-week courses focus heavily on customer discovery\, the business model canvas\, and identifying product-market fit. [1\, 2\, 3\, 4\, 5]\nThe University of Montana is a key partner in the NSF-funded Great Plains I-Corps Hub\, which spans eight states across the Midwest and Mountain West. Completing a Regional I-Corps cohort is a mandatory prerequisite for qualifying for the prestigious National NSF I-Corps Teams program. [1\, 2\, 3]\n\n\nCore Program Details\n\n\n\nTime Commitment: Participants should expect to dedicate roughly 8-10 hours weekly.\n\n\n\n\nTeam Structure: Teams must consist of at least an Entrepreneurial Lead (EL) and a Technical Lead (TL).\n\n\n\n\nCost: The innovation bootcamp and customer discovery training are completely free.\n\n\n\n\nBenefits: Qualifying program participants are often eligible for travel awards (e.g.\, $1\,500 for certain cohorts) and direct access to trained industry mentors. SUMMARY:AI Tinkerers Missoula brings builders back Sept. 23 for roundtable talks and live demos
DESCRIPTION:MISSOULA\, Mont. - Missoula's AI builder chapter is back. AI Tinkerers Missoula \nholds Session 2 on Wednesday\, September 23\, 2026\, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. MDT: \na free\, in-person night for developers\, researchers\, and technical founders \nwho actually ship AI.\n\nThis is not a networking mixer. It's builders in one room talking code and \nhow to put AI to work for real. The night opens with a roundtable on AI \nharnesses and implementation: evaluation loops\, orchestration\, testing and \nregression\, guardrails\, telemetry\, and the messy details of getting systems \nrunning in production. Then lightning demos where someone pops the hood on \na real build for about five minutes.\n\nOrganizers Jurden Bruce of Brucepro and Joshua Rhines\, founder of CubCloud \nAI and CubCloud Community\, launched the Missoula chapter with an inaugural \nmeetup on Aug. 26. Session 2 keeps the same format and the same bar: show \nthe work\, teach the trade-offs\, leave the pitch deck at home.\n\n"Missoula has the builders. Session 1 proved they want code\, not a sales \ndeck. AI Tinkerers is where they get in a room\, show how the thing actually \nworks\, and Session 2 is live demos. That's the fun part\," said Rhines.\n\nVenue details go to confirmed attendees (same location as last time). \nSpace is limited. \nApply at https://missoula.aitinkerers.org/p/ai-tinkerers-missoula-roundtable-demos-ai-harnesses-sep-23-2026\n\nDemo proposals are open. Short\, code-first demos preferred. \nAgenda: check-in at 4:00\, roundtable at 4:10\, lightning demos at 5:10.\n\nCubCloud AI builds AI systems and tools on hardware it owns and operates in Montana. \nThe company is based at 400 West Broadway St.\, Suite 102 in downtown Missoula.
