WGA Winter Meeting Dec. 13-14 in Las Vegas will feature visionary Dean Kamen

Western Governors’ Association Chair, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, will host his fellow governors at the WGA Winter Meeting on Dec. 13-14, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Other Governors already registered to attend include WGA Vice Chair Kate Brown (Oregon), Brad Little (Idaho), Kristi Noem (South Dakota), and Michelle Lujan Grisham (New Mexico).They will be joined by engineer, inventor and visionary Dean Kamen, who will deliver a keynote and engage the Governors in an onstage conversation on the first day of the meeting. Although widely known as the inventor of the Segway, Kamen’s name also appears on more than 1,000 patents. Among other topics, Kamen will share his vision of the future and discuss FIRST, the foundation he co-founded to inspire young people to enter STEM fields.

Visionary, inventor Dean Kamen to speak at 2019 WGA Winter Meeting in Las Vegas

WGA Chair, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, will host his fellow governors and special guests at the 2019 Winter Meeting on Dec. 13-14 in Las Vegas. Governors already registered to attend: WGA Vice Chair Kate Brown (Oregon), Brad Little (Idaho), Michelle Lujan Grisham (New Mexico), and Kristi Noem (South Dakota). The opening day keynote will be delivered by Dean Kamen (pictured). Widely known for inventing the Segway, Kamen’s name also appears on more than 1,000 patents. Attendees will hear his vision of the future and learn about FIRST, the foundation he co-founded to inspire young people to enter STEM fields. Make plans to join the Nov. 15 webinar, Broadband Data & Mapping: Federal Action & Developments. Panelists will explore the Federal Communications Commission’s Digital Opportunity Data Collection project and legislative efforts to improve broadband data and mapping.(Register) And then on Nov. 21 take part in Broadband Deployment in Tribal Communities, which will illuminate broadband infrastructure challenges affecting tribal communities and how wireless spectrum can close the digital divide.(Register) Both webinars are in conjunction with the Reimagining the Rural West Initiative.

Western Governors shared their support of “clear and coordinated permitting processes to promote the responsible and efficient development” of wind, solar and geothermal energy resources with leadership of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources in advance of a hearing this week.
