ANNOUNCING THE OFFICIAL SELECTIONS OF THE
17th ANNUAL BIG SKY DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL
The Big Sky Film Institute is proud to announce the official selections of the 2020 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, screening February 14-23 in Missoula, Montana.
During the 10-day festival BSDFF will present 56 features and nearly 100 short documentaries. The full lineup includes 24 World Premieres and 13 International Premieres. Films were selected from a record 2,000+ submissions from 84 nations.

In addition to official selections, BSDFF is proud to present retrospective programs featuring the full body of work from Bill Ross & Turner Ross, including their newest film BLOODY NOSE, EMPTY POCKETS, and a celebration of the work and careers of veteran filmmakers Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert, whose most recent film, AMERICAN FACTORY 美国工厂, has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary.

Steven Bognar & Julia Reichert Retrospective

BSDFF is delighted to present a retrospective of veteran Oscar-nominated filmmakers Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert. Influenced by the social movements of the 60s including the Women’s Liberation Movement, Julia Reichert is a co-founder of New Day Films and a four-time Academy Award nominee for her films AMERICAN FACTORY 美国工厂, THE LAST TRUCK, SEEING RED and UNION MAIDS. Steven Bognar’s solo films have premiered at Sundance, SXSW and the Telluride Film Festival. Bognar and Reichert’s most recent film AMERICAN FACTORY 美国工厂 has earned top accolades including the International Documentary Association’s first award for Best Director, Cinema Eye Honors for Outstanding Nonfiction Feature and Outstanding Direction, and a 2020 Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary.
