Please join the Missoula Metropolitan Planning Organization for a discussion of Missoula Connect, our region’s long-range transportation future. This plan will include projects and programs to help us meet our community’s goals, but we need your input to make sure we get those investments right. We’ve been hard at work reviewing projects, identifying needs, and developing transportation and growth scenarios over the last several months, and we are ready for your thoughts on which scenario is the right fit for our region.
Culdesac Tempe is a car-free rental apartment community in Tempe, AZ. Units are situated around vibrant courtyards that become the outdoor living rooms and center of community for Culdesac.
The Integrated Transport and Health Impact Model estimates how planning decisions affect public health, including physical activity, collisions and vehicle exhaust. This can help create healthier communities.
Strong Towns has a long history of being hard on state Departments of Transportation (DOTs). For good reason: very often, these state-level agencies, out of touch with local communities, are the ones pushing for overbuilt, unnecessary projects, and inappropriately applying highway design standards to local streets, with disastrous results for safety and economic productivity alike.
The crux of the book is the relationship between walkability and communities. Malchik argues that walkability correlates with trust within communities, resulting in lower crime and better health and resiliency.
