Community Conversation on Creating Digital Opportunities – 9/10 – Missoula & Livestreamed

Community Conversation on Creating Digital Opportunities (RSVP HERE)

at the Missoula Public Library in Missoula, Montana, on September 10, 2024, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM MT (1:00 – 3:00 PM ET).

This conversation will bring together Tribal leaders, educators, telehealth advocates, and community-based non-profits to discuss new funding opportunities for digital inclusion and best practices for initiatives aimed at improving economic opportunities for Tribal and rural residents. This event will be livestreamed and open to press.

 

Participants will hear from Montana’s own Tribal leaders, librarians, and community-based nonprofits that are working to connect rural populations, elderly, and disabled populations statewide. The panel discussion will be led by local experts from:

  • Montana’s State Library System,
  • Independent living centers,
  • Montana Digital Academy – the State’s virtual school, and
  • the Northwest Regional Telehealth Resource Center.

 

Additionally, NTIA’s Digital Equity Director will share insights on how the Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program will help older adults, incarcerated individuals, veterans, people living with disabilities, members of a racial or ethnic minority groups, rural residents, and individuals facing a language barrier experience the benefits of technology.

States, Tribes, and Territories are working to make #InternetforAll a reality nationwide. NTIA’s Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program will invest nearly $1 billion via nonprofits, community anchor institutions, local educational agencies, workforce development organizations, and other entities to promote digital inclusion for low-income households, aging populations, incarcerated individuals, veterans, people with disabilities, people with language barriers, racial and ethnic minorities, and rural residents.
