City Club Missoula Presents: Wildfire in Missoula: Policy, Preparedness, and Planning Day: Monday, June 9th 2025

June 9 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Wildfires are becoming longer, more destructive, and closer to home. In Montana, over 90% of residents now live in counties at high risk for wildfires. This escalating threat affects not only fire management, but also housing, insurance, public health, and community resilience.

Join us at City Club for a timely conversation on how Missoula and Montana can prepare, adapt, and respond.

Panelists:

• Kimiko Barrett, Headwaters Economics: National wildfire policy & resilience

• Adriane Beck, Missoula County Emergency Management: Local response & preparedness

• Karen Hughes, Missoula County Planning: Growth management & land use

• Chris “CJ” Johnson, U.S. Forest Service: Federal mitigation & suppression strategies

Learn how different levels of policy and planning can protect homes, health, and communities from wildfire.

Open to all—homeowners, planners, officials, and concerned citizens.
