The Montana Associated Technology Roundtables provide networking and information opportunities to the Entrepreneurs, Investors and Professionals of Montana and the Inland Northwest Region.
Montana Associated Technology Roundtables (MATR) knows that creative entrepreneurial climates and successful companies are developed through active networking. The Roundtables are informal networking organizations in the cities of Montana whose participants include entrepreneurs, business professionals, educators, govt. officials, retirees and students in the state- really anyone interested in seeing an improved economy. It also includes graduates, expats and others living elsewhere who a desire to stay connected to the excitement of the Montana economy and participate in its success.
While we have Technology in our name, we believe that any successful economy must capitalize on all categories of companies that can contribute to a vibrant community. This includes traditional, natural resource, agriculture, service and manufacturing companies as well as those classified as "new economy".
Entrepreneurs and small business owners often need hands-on coaching about how to run and grow a business. They need to talk with others in the business community about their experiences, share war stories and learn about resources. A common goal is to not have to reinvent the wheel every time a new business is started. While Montana wants to have the big companies to support the economy, it's important to remember that most of the biggest companies in the Fortune 500 started out as startups. There is no reason why they can't be started here.
In the spirit of providing the networks for the entrepreneurs of Montana as well as nurturing our existing companies, MATR organizes networking meetings on a regular basis. They are usually developed around a theme such as business principals, corporate organization, funding or marketing techniques. They begin with active networking so bring your business cards. The topic for the meeting is then presented by an expert or panel from the field with interactive involvement by all participants. The discussion is followed by more networking.
The organization members regularly share ideas, opportunities and innovations among the group through e-mail, forum discussions and additional informal gatherings. The MATR page is updated daily with economic and other relevant information from the State, Region and World that can foster increased economic success in Montana. It also contains a large library of previous information organized by category that may be helpful to members. There is a weekly newsletter that compiles the news of the week into a single digest for member convenience. If you wish to receive this, please fill in the form at the bottom of this page.
There is no cost to be a member of the Roundtable or to receive the newsletters.
If your community doesn't have a Roundtable and you're interested in starting one, please contact me. If you are an entrepreneur and would like to have your executive summary reviewed, please visit the Executive Summary page.
