The Wheeler Center Presents: Return Of The Repressed Todays European Populism In Historical Perspective - 9/26 - Bozeman

Professor David Clay Large, Senior Fellow at the Institute of European Studies at U.C. Berkeley and Co-Director of Berkeley's Austrian Studies Program will present a Wheeler Center lecture entitled "Return of the Repressed" Todays Populism in Europe in Historical Perspective at 6 PM on September 26that the Hilton Garden Inn in Bozeman Montana. His lecture will focus on the emergence and current prominence of right-wing populism in Europe and the origin of these sentiments through the course of the twentieth-century.

Professor Large is currently Senior Fellow at the Institute of European Studies at U. C. Berkeley and Co-Director of Berkeley's Austrian Studies Program. He is also Roger Boas Professor of History at the Fromm Institute, University of San Francisco. Over a long academic career, David has taught at Berkeley, Smith College, Yale University, and Montana State University Bozeman. His latest book is a social and cultural history of the grand spas of Central Europe, a project that required rigorous field work at the resorts in question. David also works frequently in documentary-television, acting as consultant, scriptwriter, and talking-head for the BBC, PBS, NBC Sports, and various German networks.
