MSE likely get $6 million in federal funding

The Western Environmental Technology Office, operated by MSE Technology Applications, http://www.mse-ta.com/ should get $6 million in federal funding.

By the Standard Staff

The funding, secured by Montana Sen. Conrad Burns, is addressed in the fiscal year 2004 Energy and Water Appropriations bill. That bill is awaiting the president’s signature, according to MSE officials. The office sponsors a variety of programs targeted toward solving environmental problems through the development of innovative techniques and technologies.

"The WETO contract is essentially the backbone of MSE. This funding was "crucial, not just for our WETO initiatives, but for the continued viability of our company as a whole. Hundreds of employees depend on this work and have Conrad Burns to thank for its continued viability," said MSE President Don Peoples in a news release.

Peoples, who was traveling Thursday, could not be reached for further comment.

"Butte and Silver Bow County have been facing some rough times. I’m glad to play a part in the economic revitalization of southwestern Montana," said Burns in a news release.
