Kathleen Williams To Hold Wilderness Study Area Round Table Discussion – 8/15

In order to listen to expert and public opinions about the future of Montana’s Wilderness Study Areas (WSAs), Kathleen Williams https://kathleenformontana.com/ , Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, will hold a non-partisan round table conversation with Montanans to listen to their concerns and ideas.

The event is free and open to anyone who wants to participate in a good-faith dialogue on the future of Montana’s WSAs. While the event logistics will be paid for by Williams for Montana, Kathleen will not use the event to propose legislation or argue for specific policy positions.

The round table will begin with information from experts from a variety of backgrounds. The meeting will include time for public input and audience participation.

WHAT: Wilderness Study Area Round Table

WHEN: Wednesday, August 15th, 10:30am – 12pm

WHERE: Room 330, Student Center, University of Montana

WSA legislation is pending in Congress. But across Montana, Kathleen has heard concerns that existing legislation may go too far or not address the right issues. With 44 WSAs in Montana managed by either the Bureau of Land Management or the U.S. Forest Service, any changes to the status of WSAs should include significant public input. Kathleen hopes to foster that process with this round table.

Kathleen has spent her professional and legislative career working on natural resource issues, and is an outdoor sportswoman herself. Kathleen understands the importance of building consensus and working collaboratively with Montanans on all sides of an issue. Kathleen looks forward to hearing from Montanans on this important topic.
