Future Ready MT Cabinet to unite talent pipeline efforts and build trained workforce

Governor Steve Bullock today signed an executive order creating the Future Ready MT Cabinet to coordinate education and workforce initiatives to ensure that Montana residents are prepared for the jobs of today and of the future and that Montana employers can fill their workforce needs.

"The key to continued economic growth and prosperity is the availability of a talented and trained workforce," said Governor Bullock. "We have an incredible opportunity here in Montana to unite our talent pipeline efforts. Working with employers and other stakeholders, we will ensure that we have a well-trained workforce for today and tomorrow."

The Cabinet will revisit Montana's attainment goals, define specific strategies for the state to implement in partnership with employers and other stakeholders, and recommend policy solutions to Governor Bullock for consideration for the 2019 Biennial Budget proposal.

I commend the Gov. on this new effort. I do hope that the cabinet will include members of the public who know what they need in terms of job-ready applicants and will be a major beneficiary of this program.

A cabinet made up of govt. officials may not get a full picture of employment challenges and respond with the speed necessary to incorporate new programs and initiatives.
