Senate candidate Matt Rosendale shuffles cash to keep excess donations

Campaign records show Republican U.S. Senate candidate Matt Rosendale used excess donations from deep-pocketed GOP donors this spring to pay himself back for personal loans from his failed 2014 congressional run.

The records show the Montana Republican then loaned that money right back to his current campaign to unseat incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Tester.

Critics say that accounting shuffle helped Rosendale fund his Senate campaign with money given by donors above the individual contribution limit of $5,400 per election cycle.
