Isothermal, Liberty Lake, WA receives $29 million round of financing through SBIR program

Isothermal Systems Research Inc., http://www.spraycool.com based in Liberty Lake and Clarkston, Wash., was awarded a $29 million round of financing, the company announced.

The company designs and manufactures advanced spray-cooling systems. The new financing is part of a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant awarded through the Department of Defense. http://sbir.gsfc.nasa.gov/SBIR/successes/ss/8-021ext.html

The money isn’t a direct grant, noted ISR spokesman Tony Vengel. SBIR grants create a credit account that contractors and others can draw on to develop spray cool projects with ISR, Vengel said.

"It creates the opportunity for customers to order and go through an order without a bidding process," said Vengel.

The spray-cool technology is being tested in a number of military uses, including Navy and Air Force planes, Army mechanized vehicles and the Marine Corps’ Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle.
