Study to look at solar-powered charging sites for electric cars in Montana

Solar-powered charging stations for electric vehicles will be studied in three Montana communities with a $150,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.

"These two technologies can be a natural fit and the grant seeks to expand market opportunities for solar," said Kyla Maki, an energy resource professional with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality’s Energy Office.

Finding optimal locations for developing solar-powered charging stations at public locations and workplaces in Missoula, Whitefish and Bozeman will be studied, she said.
