The Western Governors’ Association will host the webinar, Strategies to Expand Youth Apprenticeship, on February 15 at 11 a.m. (MT) as part of the series for the Western Governors’ Workforce Development Initiative.

Through a series of Workforce Development Initiative workshops, participants learned about the Swiss model of apprenticeship, as well as apprenticeship opportunities for youth across the West such as CareerWise.

A variety of elements, from funding to policy, play a role in implementing and scaling youth apprenticeships. This webinar moderated by Brent Parton of the Center on Education & Skills, New America, will take the next step by discussing strategies for expanding apprenticeship programs. Panelists: Diane Jones, Senior Policy Advisor to the U.S. Department of Labor Secretary; Christopher Nesmith, Career and Technical Education Director, West Valley School District – Yakima; Bri Durham, Director of Youth Apprenticeship, Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee.
