Judge eases rules on ethics complaints confidentiality for elected officials in Montana

The Commissioner of Political Practices said Monday his office will comply with the recent ruling of a U.S. District Court judge and no longer treat ethics complaints filed against elected officials as confidential.

And complaints filed against state employees will remain confidential until they get to the hearing stage.

Commissioner Jeff Mangan said U.S. District Court Judge Brian Morris issued an order Dec. 15 in regards to Rep. Brad Tschida, R-Missoula, vs. Mangan.
