Graduate Degree in Adventure Tourism – CSU’s newest course isn’t only the most Colorado ever, it’s the first of its kind in the country
People spend $887 million annually to shred the slopes in Crested Butte, mountain bike the sandstone trails in Moab, Utah, cast a line in Lake Minnetonka, Minn., and enjoy other outdoor adventures in Colorado and across the U.S.
So it makes sense to train the people who manage the adventure and outdoor recreation industry to provide what’s best for people and the environment, say top tourism and Colorado State University officials.
CSU is doing its part by launching an online graduate certificate in adventure tourism, the first of its kind in the nation.

Colorado State University adds adventure tourism graduate program
Courses will focus ‘more on the operations of running these enterprises’
Colorado, home to skiing, rafting and other adventures, will now be home to the first adventure tourism graduate program in the country at Colorado State University.
"It couldn’t be more perfect," said Mark Gasta, associate professor and program director for the new graduate certificate. "It is our state’s brand. We are an iconic place for adventure. It’s only fitting we are the first."
