Profit Enhancement Symposium

Everyone has been talking for years about the poor economy and the need for economic development in Montana. While law makers and bureauocrats discuss politics, Montana’s CPAs are working quietly in the background to ensure the survival of their clients’ businesses. Today’s Certified Public Accountant isn’t just a tax specialist, but a business expert who possesses the core knowledge needed to take the lead on business development and retention. One CPA firm has risen to the challenge by developing the award-winning Profit Enhancement Syposium.

In 2002, the Montana-based firm of Junkermier, Clark, Campanella, Stevens, originated the first Profit Enhancement Symposium. The forum was designed with the thought that by pulling together, Montana businesses can help in strengthening our economic foundation. The idea was a huge success with 46 professionals from across Montana having an honest discussion and formulating action plans geared towards increasing Montana businesses profitability.

The concept was so successful that not only has it garnered the support of professional associations, banks and Chambers of Commerce across the state, the Practical Accountant, a national publication written for CPAs, awarded JCCS with their Practice Innovation Award. In its fourth year, this award goes to 11 firms that have been judged by Practical Accountant’s editorial staff to have brought in new business or cut costs by instituting a process, launching an initiative, or changing a procedure. Winning firms are aware of their local economy and industry trends, as well as being extremely attentive to clients’ needs and feedback.

And the success continues as this progressive firm holds the second annual Profit Enhancement Symposium September 25 and 26th in Great Falls. Once again the conference is designed to help business people identify ways to increase their profitability and develop their potential. These two days of intense training will teach critical information and techniques that business professionals can use to make their Montana business more profitable. "This program will take participants from the beginning step of Profit Analysis to the final stages of Profit Plan Development and Implementation," explained Colleen Rudio, JCCS Profit Enhancement Director. "In addition to valuable insight from business and industry panels, participants will have the opportunity to learn successful profit enhancement techniques from local and national resources."

"It is exciting and rewarding to watch one of our member firms take the lead in Montana’s economic future," stated Jane Egan, the Executive Director of the Montana Society of CPAs. "This is a perfect example of today’s CPA serving the role of a trusted business advisor. We are proud to be affiliated as a Syposium partner."
