Kalispell Chamber Luncheon - Downtown Urban Renewal - 10/17 - Kalispell

October 12, 2017View for printing

How can Kalispell accelerate investment in the downtown core area now that the timeline is set for the removal of the railroad tracks?

Tracy Huggins, Executive Director for the Denver Urban Renewal Authority, will be leading a small-group conversation prior to the Kalispell Chamber's October Luncheon where she will tell the story of the redevelopment of the Lower Downtown area of Denver, CO through the '90s and '00s, which is widely considered one of the most successful urban renewal examples in the western US.

This small group event will be comprised of representatives of the City of Kalispell, Montana West Economic Development, downtown property owners, civic growth associations, and the development community.

WHY: Over the last several years, many businesses have invested in the core area of Kalispell, with the belief that the area's redevelopment will drive additional growth. Now that the timeline is set for the removal of the railroad tracks, how can Kalispell accelerate investment in the core area? Learn what the challenges, successes, and steps a community can take to promote growth, investment, and jobs in downtown urban renewal from a successful redevelopment area that's been through it.
