The Graduate School at Montana State University has selected eight graduate students to compete in the Three-Minute Research Competition. The event, part of the Graduate Student Research Rendezvous, takes place Oct. 19 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Procrastinator Theater. The event is free and open to the public.
The competition challenges graduate students to present their research topic in a manner that can be understood by a non-specialist audience. The format allows only one slide and 3 minutes of oral presentation. Judges’ and people’s choice awards will be presented. The format is similar to the Three-Minute Thesis competition pioneered by The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, which now takes place at more than 600 universities in 59 countries.
