Welcome Rachel VandeVoort, the new director of the Montana Office of Outdoor Recreation

Join us in welcoming Rachel VandeVoort as the first director of the Montana Office of Outdoor Recreation. Join us also in thanking Governor Steve Bullock for creating this office http://wildmontana.org/wild-word/made-for-the-job

According to the Outdoor Industry Association’s new figures, outdoor recreation generates $7 billion per year in consumer spending and supports over 70,000 jobs that pay more than $2 billion worth of wages http://wildmontana.org/wild-word/outdoor-recreation-now-the-largest-sector-of-our-economy The Office of Outdoor Recreation will help Montana derive even more benefit from what is now the largest sector of our economy.

We look forward to working with Rachel and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development over the next several months to further develop a vision for the office. We believe that the office can harness the power of outdoor recreation to drive economic development in communities across our state and to help protect the public lands on which that economy depends.

With that in mind, MWA has created a survey on outdoor recreation in Montana https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MT_outdoor_recreation to compile helpful feedback and suggestions for the Office of Outdoor Recreation. We invite you to complete this survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MT_outdoor_recreation and share it with others interested in outdoor recreation and public lands.
